Yesterday we all traveled to Colorado Springs to Colorado College and performed at their luau on campus.  We had LOTS of FUN!  Derek (one of our musicians) sang preshow music and then we hit the stage with live drumming and music.

Colorado College students were an awesome audience and they even gave us LOTS of food after the show.  We LOVE that….

This past week we performed for CU Boulders Taste of Asia.  We did a multicultural dance which featured not only Polynesian dance but also Bollywood and Bellydance.  Our Tahitian Dance section featured live drummers as well.  Although it was FREEZING cold outside and snow was on the ground the show went on…

Mahalo to the staff for having us at your event!

The Halau (Hula School) had another successful fundraiser last night at The Fortune Valley Casino in Central City CO.  The Halau managed to get 35 members to ride on the bus to the Casino for $20.00 per person.  Ellen, one of our Hula Sisters coordinated the fundraiser.  Ellen even had a 50/ 50 raffle on the way to the casino which gave more proceeds to the school.  We had raffles on Pampered Chef products donated by Ellen as well.

Many of us gambled and won while some of us just went on to the dance floor and did what we do best… :)   This was an awesome night and The Halau would like to say MAHALO NUI LOA to those that showed their support and Aloha Spirit last night.  The group is truly blessed to have so much dedicated members.

Lots of fun this afternoon doing a full show for a cub scout banquet.  They LOVED the audience participation and wanted to pictures with the dancer doing the “warrior” pose.

January 28, 2011 Bromwell Elementary School in Denver Colorado hosted their multicultural day event.  Kalama Polynesian Dancers entertained the school with Tahitian Dance, Bellydance, Maori Dance, Bollywood, and Hula Dance.  We featured children and adult entertainers as well as featured Live Drumming with Lani and Kekoa.

One of the highlights was our Ukulele Player/ musician Shan singing Palehua LIVE while Kahunani and Aiwa graced the stage with the Hula from Hawaii.

We concluded the show by having the whole audience stand up and teaching them motions to the popular song- Hawaii 5-0.

Not only was it a pleasure to entertain the students and their families but thanks to Bromwell we had the pleasure of tasting food from all cultures.  I think the Indian Food was the best.  :)
