Lots of fun this afternoon doing a full show for a cub scout banquet.  They LOVED the audience participation and wanted to pictures with the dancer doing the “warrior” pose.

January 28, 2011 Bromwell Elementary School in Denver Colorado hosted their multicultural day event.  Kalama Polynesian Dancers entertained the school with Tahitian Dance, Bellydance, Maori Dance, Bollywood, and Hula Dance.  We featured children and adult entertainers as well as featured Live Drumming with Lani and Kekoa.

One of the highlights was our Ukulele Player/ musician Shan singing Palehua LIVE while Kahunani and Aiwa graced the stage with the Hula from Hawaii.

We concluded the show by having the whole audience stand up and teaching them motions to the popular song- Hawaii 5-0.

Not only was it a pleasure to entertain the students and their families but thanks to Bromwell we had the pleasure of tasting food from all cultures.  I think the Indian Food was the best.  :)

Mahalo to Keahi, Dani Lei, Kahunani, Melinaka, and Aiwa for a job well done!

Kalama Polynesian Dancers and Dancing Bellybuttons opened up the New Year with a huge promotion for The Tropical Doll 2011 Girl of the Year doll at American Girl.  The doll is a Hawaiian Doll from the island of Kaua’i.  Her name is Kanani.  On January 1st and 2nd Aiwa and Rooshana greeted the children in line outside the store in the snow and cold waiting to go inside the American Girl store in Park Meadows Mall.

As the store opened they rushed in to see the Kanani.  In one day the doll SOLD OUT!  The next day we were telling the children to come back in the next day or so because the doll was gone!

Lucky for us there were  plenty of arts and crafts for the children to participate in and we were the HIT by doing 2 different Polynesian Shows throughout the day.  The children were dressed in their grass skirts and participated in all of our hula lessons and Tahitian dance lessons.  They were an awesome crowd!

Maui Jim Sunglass Co.  call me two days before their VAIL, CO event.  They were promoting sunglasses and wanted only AUTHENTIC Polynesian girls.  By some miracle I happened to put it all together and got Vairea and Kahunani there.  Praying that it wouldn’t snow…  the dancers drove about almost three hours to Vail where they helped promote their sunglasses by passing out promotional items and leis.
