Little Keiki / Tamarii Classes with Glenda and Nai’a

Instructor: Kahealani 
Assistant / Kāpehe / Tauturu: Brittany
Class prerequisites:
  • Ages 3-12
  • Positive attitude
  • Class Binder
  • Class Pareau
  • Regular attendance

Class goals:
  • Introduction to multiple forms of Polynesian dance, including Hula, Tahitian, Samoan and Maori 
  • Introduction to Polynesian languages 
  • Introduction to Polynesian protocols and culture
  • Introduction to Polynesian music and implements
  • Preparation to progress to the intermediate class level

Junior Keiki Classes with Ellen

  • Ages 12-17
  • Hula and Tahitian basics
  • Class pa`u
  • Class pareo 
  • Regular attendance 

Class Goals
  • Improve posture, form, and endurance 
  • Incorporate levels in both Hula and Tahitian
  • Increase confidence
  • Respect and support your Hula Brothers, Sisters, Aunties, and Uncles
  • Have fun!

Teen Class with Nai'a

  • Ages 13-19 (by invite only)
  • Tahitian and Hula Basics 
  • Class pa'u
  • Class pareo
  • Regular attendance 
Class Goals:
  • To create a FUN learning environment for teens in the Halau
  • To improve techniques and fundamentals
  • To introduce teens to other forms of dance from Samoa and New Zealand
  • Increase confidence 
  • To introduce teens to other possibilities within the group
  • To mentor teens in ways they can improve their dance
